Opis video snimke:
For the seventh year in a row, Zagreb hosted the Gay Pride parade on Saturday, with a procession of LGBTIQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersexual and queer) people marching through the centre of the capital under the motto "The Power of Unity - You Have the Courage!". The marchers carried colourful balloons and flags in the colours of the rainbow, the European Union and their organisations, displaying messages such as "I Am Happy", "I Love My Neighbour" and "Our Courage Is Our Strength". Some passers-by stopped to watch the parade with a smile on their faces, while some protested. The only major incident happened in the main square, Trg Bana Josipa Jelacica, when a man shouted at the marchers, saying: "This is Croatia! Remember Vukovar! Shame on you! Remember the generals!" The man was soon taken away by the police. Parade organisers Marko Jurcic and Franko Dota told reporters they were very pleased with this year's event, saying that it was the greatest yet. "We've had enough of being silent and hiding. We've had enough of homophobia, transphobia, biphobia, discrimination, violence, isolation and invisibility. We're marching through the City of Zagreb to defend our freedom, because we're strong and because we have the courage," organisers told the crowd in Cvjetni Trg square. This year's event was attended, among others, by the Ombudswoman for Gender Equality, Gordana Lukac-Koritnik and Social Democratic Party member of the Croatian Parliament Mirela Holy, as well as by Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, a Dutch Liberal Party VVD member of the European Parliament, and Ulrike Lunacek, co-president of the European Green Party, a declared lesbian who has been elected into the Austrian Parliament. The police estimated the number of parade participants at between 150 and 200, while organisers put their number at between 500 and 600. The police initially said there had been no physical attacks on the marchers, but later reported attacks on five parade participants in two separate incidents. Two unidentified men attacked Kristijan Grdjan and Sanja Juras, activists of Iskorak, the organisation promoting the rights of sexual and gender minorities, and Kontra, the organisation promoting the rights of lesbians. Grdjan was slightly injured in the attack and sought medical assistance. The police were also investigating an attack on three citizens of Kosovo who participated in the parade. Two of them sought medical assistance after they were attacked by three unidentified men outside the parade zone. Meanwhile, addressing a news conference, Vesna Pusic of the Croatian People's Party (HNS) expressed her support for the parade, saying that she and her party supported the right to privacy and the right to the choice of a lifestyle. On this occasion Pusic welcomed a Dutch delegation led by Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, whose Liberal People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) is a member of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe. Later on, officials of the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS) also received Hennis-Plasschaert, who praised Croatia for progress in the treatment of the LGBTIQ population, according to a press release issued by the HSLS.
