The MVP of the Second Annual McDonald's Open Tournament was legendary Croatian international star Dražen Petrović. The tournament, featuring the Boston Celtics of the NBA, Real Madrid of Spain, Scavolini Pesaro of Italy and the national team of Former Yugoslavia, was held in Madrid at the beginning of October 1988, after the Seoul Olympics. Even though this was the only time Dražen showcased his skills at this level, he made it clear to everyone that he is a future NBA player. In honor of his performance and overall accomplishments future MVPs of the Tournament, including Charles Barkley, Clyde Drexler and Michael Jordan, all received an MVP trophy in the form of Dražen's stature, from the hands of his mother Biserka Petrović.
